In a statement that has sent shockwaves through the cricketing fraternity, India’s legendary all-rounder and 2011 World Cup hero, Yuvraj Singh, has hailed teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as a talent possessing a bat speed superior to his own.
The 15-year-old prodigy, currently representing Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026, has become the talk of the town after a series of blistering knocks that have dismantled some of the world’s best bowling attacks.
Yuvraj Singh, famously known for his “flick of the wrists” and the iconic six sixes in an over, was left mesmerized after watching Sooryavanshi’s recent 15-ball half-century against Chennai Super Kings.
Speaking to the host broadcaster, Yuvraj remarked, “I’ve seen many young talents, but the bat speed Vaibhav generates is frightening. People talk about my swing, but honestly, his bat speed is better than mine at that age. The way he clears the boundary with such minimal effort is a sign of a special player.”
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been on a record-breaking spree over the last few months:
- IPL Phenom: Smashed the third-fastest fifty in IPL history (15 balls) against CSK.
- U-19 World Champion: Guided India to the 2026 U-19 World Cup title, ending as the tournament’s highest run-getter.
- Domestic Dominance: Became the youngest centurion in List-A cricket during the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Bihar.
The comparisons have already begun, with experts likening his aggressive stance and high backlift to legends like Brian Lara and Yuvraj himself. However, Yuvraj cautioned that while the talent is immense, the youngster must stay grounded. “He has the world at his feet. If he maintains this discipline, we are looking at the future of the Indian middle order,” Yuvraj added.
With the T20 World Cup on the horizon, the selectors are reportedly keeping a close eye on the Bihar-born left-hander. If Yuvraj’s endorsement is anything to go by, the “Sooryavanshi Era” in Indian cricket has officially begun.
